In the shadows of ancient myth, she was not born a monster — she was made one.
Once a priestess whose beauty rivaled the gods themselves, Medusa's golden hair caught the eye of Poseidon, and in the very temple of Athena the violation took place.
The goddess did not punish the aggressor.
She punished the victim.
Hair became writhing serpents.
A gaze that once inspired admiration became a weapon that turned men to stone.
And so the world received the most tragic of paradoxes:
the woman who had suffered the greatest violation was transformed into the very image of terror —
a living warning that no one would dare approach her again.
They called her monster.
But perhaps the truest horror was never her face…
it was the silence of the gods who watched, and chose to curse the one who had been wronged.
Medusa did not ask to become a gorgon.
She simply survived the crime committed against her —
and the world could not bear to look at that truth.
So they turned to stone instead.
